The Back Lane

Portraits of dysfunctional garages in back alleys. The soon to be forgotten history of a past status symbol that has declined into disrepair and will soon be a thing of memories.

Since getting my little dog in June 2009, I have found myself walking down back alleys on a regular basis in search of a garbage can. Back alleys and very interesting places. Living in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Medicine Hat it occured to me that I see things in back alleys that may not be around in a few years (decades) time. The world is constantly changing and the norm for construction right now is out with the old, bigger is better, keep it clean and sterile…not at all what I see when I take my little dog for walks.

I aproached this series by looking at the garages as the focus of a portrait. All photos will be cropped and processed the same way…also, one of these garages happens to be ours.
